HAVE WE HIT THE BOTTOM
YET OF THE ECONOMY?

     What does that mean?  We have ALL gone without food….or none of us have a car to drive…..or nobody has a job left?  I am so sick and tired of that question when I turn on the news.  It ‘infers’ that once we ‘hit the bottom’ it will start to come back exactly as it was before!



    



    NEVER…the past is gone!  When a ball bounces it never returns in the exact same location…it bounces to create a NEW location.  This is what we can expect with the economy.  So if people are waiting for the stock market to go back exactly as it was – forget it….aint gonna happen.   If economists are expecting the economy to go back as it once was – controlled by big business – aint gonna happen.  If companies think they will be able to do business the same way they did five years ago – aint gonna happen.  We are in changing times….and changing times demand that WE change!

    I think there are some wonderful things happening within the economy.  Yes – I certainly feel for the people who are losing their jobs and have a family to support etc……but you know, when one door closes……another one opens.  

    I remember when I worked out into the corporate world and had to let an Inventory Counter go who had been with us for 11 years.  She would never have left on her own because she was ‘comfortable’ where she was.  It created ‘security’ for her….it meant she didn’t have to get out of her comfort zone.  But she was miserable working for us.  She soooo did not want to be there…..and because of that  - - it was very difficult having to deal with her attitude.  What was the solution?  Close the door on her security….and force her to step outside of the box…..to find something that WOULD make her happy.  During this final meeting, I explained to her how I felt this was the best for both of us….but unfortunately she did not see it ‘right then’.  And I fully understood that.  Inwardly she was dealing with “Ohhhh myyy God….someone just tore open my comfort zone...I'm not going to survive another day!!”

    Three years later I happened to walk into a Tim Horton’s….only to stand behind her in line waiting for a coffee.  She asked if she could sit with me to drink her coffee.  She proceeded to thank me for letting her go.  She continued to say that she found the most perfect job for her, where she was so much happier, and it fit her skill set and she was also moving up the ranks.  She was extremely happy because of how it all turned out.

   We all get into ruts.  We all hang out in our ‘comfort zone’.  We all have difficulty sometimes seeing outside of that box.  It’s not comfortable out there, so we, as humans, have a tendency to stay where it’s comfortable…..and hope for the best.  (I see this with people who are extremely unhappy in their marriages).

     Because companies often know this as a human function, they can use it to their advantage.  They can push people to the limit – because people will generally NOT step away from something they know.  You know the old adage:  Its better the devil you know, versus the devil you don’t know!

      I’ve always been one to cruise “Career Beacon” and “Workoppolis” - - even when I was working full time in the Corporate World.  Why?  Not necessarily because I was looking for a different job - - but more for the sake of knowledge.  And I still do it weekly now.  Not because I plan on going back into the Corporate world – but who knows?  Perhaps there will be an opportunity too good to pass up. 
   -   How prepared are you? 
    -  Do you keep up with what is going on around you? 
    -  Have you continued to upgrade your skills even though you have a perfectly good job? 
    -  Have you even thought of what you would like to do next.....or have you simply assumed this same job would be here forever?

     One major Pro that I see happening in this economy….is that the Universe is forcing people to step outside of their comfort zone.  Is that terrifying?  You wanna betcha!  Is there something you would like to try as a small business?  Never hurts to ask yourself that question - "If I had tons of money (because 'money' is usually what stops people) what would I want to do with my life?"  Sometimes we have to be pushed to force us out on a limb.  Often I have heard people say  "I'd love to open a restaurant" or  "I'd love to do something with my crafts".

     Planetary wise we are coming to the end of our Venus Retrograde.  Which means a lot of decisions about relationships are perhaps coming to a close.  During that time (since March 6th) people have been asking and thinking about who they want in their lives.  April 17th we see Venus once again moving forward….which means decisions will have to be made by that time period.  Relationships will be decided.....so that will be one less thing on our minds.

      I see something else very positive happening in our planetary alignment.  That is Jupiter (planet of expansion) coming up to line up with Neptune (planet of dreams).  This is an important time for humanity - - to learn that indeed WE can make OUR dreams come true.   When we put our lives in the hands of large corporations to make our dreams come true….we set ourselves up for disappointment….as I think a lot of people are seeing right now.  Putting your eggs all in one basket can be extremely dangerous.

      So we come back to the question…..how can YOU make YOUR dreams come true?

      Often I ask the question - - What would make YOU happy?  Often clients have no idea (which really throws me for a loop).  The answer to “What would make you happy”  has to be a starting point to manifesting our future.  We can’t manifest…if we don’t know WHAT we want to manifest.  So I question why people don't seem to know what would make them happy -
-Is it because we are afraid to dream? 
-Is it because we think our actual dreams are silliness?
-Is it perhaps because we simply wouldn’t know where to begin?
-       Or…have we been so focused on how ‘unhappy’ we've been…that we haven’t thought about what would make us happy?

       Within the last year Pluto entered into the sign of Capricorn which has turned the economy onto its ear.  People have to get back to basics.  It all has to come down to individual-ness.  We create our reality with our thoughts, with our ideas, and with our dreams.  If we have no ‘dreams’ – what happens then to our reality?

      So often people feel they are unhappy with their job.  The Universe seems to be helping people take care of that.   They are unhappy in this job…..so go find another job whereby you will be happy!  That sounds extremely harsh…but it is reality. 

    I have made a mantra for myself.  If it is something I can do something about - - there is no point in complaining about it – just go do it!  If it is something I can’t do anything about - - what a waste of energy THAT is….so forget about it!  So in other words, give up the complaining and start living.

    What we focus on is what we get more of……which means….if we have been focused on how ‘unhappy’ we are….guess what? (Re-read this sentence until you know how to answer the question….it is an imperative answer to being happy).

   It may indeed be one of the things that is making you extremely unhappy or keeping you stuck.   Kinda defeats the purpose…huh?

       So….will the economy bounce back?   Bounce – yes……..Back – no.  This is a Universal Lesson of individuals taking responsibility for themselves.  So the direction of the bounce will depend on each of us…..one at a time.
