WHO IS THE AUTHENTIC SELF
OF A LEO?

By the time we have reached the sign of Leo, we have now moved into the second Fire sign in the zodiac (Aries is the 1st fire sign), but Leo holds the position of the second fire sign.
Leo is the only sign that is completely ruled by the Sun – hence if there is any sign within that zodiac who would suffer from SAD – Seasonal Affective Disorder. It is important for Leo’s to have a fair amount of sun within their life. Low cloud cover creates a lot of mood disorder for a Leo.
In Medical Astrology the sign of Leo rules the heart region and anything connected directly with the heart such as circulation. Because of this, we find that often Leo’s will give of themselves generously through time, money, and knowledge, with no thought of the self.
For the previous years(2006/2007) we had all been experiencing the sign of Saturn going through the astrological sign of Leo. I believe these two years I has seen more people dealing with heart/circulatory conditions than I has seen in a number of years. If, in your ‘Natal” chart, you have any planet in the sign of Leo within your 6th house (house of health), I would highly suggest you keep a close watch on your heart. I am one of those people, and throughout my life I have healed a prolapsed valve to the heart (as identified in my bio on our website). Interestilying enough, I had a Cardiologist convince me to be re-tested during the last year – thank goodness to hear my heart was now perfectly healthy!
Because Leos represent the element of fire – they bore very easily. They like to keep things moving. They dislike repetition. Once they see the point, they become quite impatient, and often obstinate, in discussions.
Leos shine so brightly in the creative arena and I belive that the ‘authentic’ self of the Leo craves to find its creative side. Poetry, painting, decorating – all the traditional creative outlets are valuable centering devices for Leo. Any inclination along those lines should be pursued. Such skills provide vehicles for the expression of the authentic self, and that kind of self-expression is evolutionary dynamite for the lion.
Leo shines even more brightly when the creative avenue chosen is a more direct one. Dancing, singing, storytelling and, above all, drama, are the Lion’s natural turf. There, little distance remainds between the performer and audience. Feedback is instantaneous. Energy goes out and immediately finds the mark. And for Leo, that is heaven.
Women born under this sign tend to dominate their marriages. They are like ferocious lionesses in the drama of defending their children. One may step on the toes of Leo mothers, but never on the toes of their children!
One doesn’t just have to be a Leo to have the dramatic side of life. Anyone whose birthchart contains a lot of Leo components has the soul of a performer!
Leos allow that dramatic side to shine! Strategy? To celebrate one’s self. To create. To keep no private secrets. To maintain the innocence, the spontaneity, and the freshness of a child – allow yourself to play!
