Nature Speaks:
What the Forget-Me-Not flowers have to teach us

As I was looking closely at the many flowers blooming in my garden this spring, and spending a couple of minutes to take pictures of each of them,  I couldn’t help but notice this beautiful blue plant known as:  Forget Me Not.

People often see this particular plant as a nuisance because it can have a tendency to take over the area where it is growing and over time can actually infest one’s whole garden.   I remember a number of years ago, commenting to someone: “What a   beautiful flower growing in your garden – I would love to have some!”  This comment was met with distain as the person neglected the beauty of the plant, but continued to talk about what a nuisance it had made within her garden.  Obviously, the beauty is within the eyes of the beholder, because I was completely smitten.

As I snapped this picture a few days ago, I remembered her comment.    There are many people within our life, who perhaps have passed to the other world, or people who have simply wandered away to create their own separate life, that we remember with great joy such as the beauty of these tiny blue flowers.  Just as the lady I mentioned earlier, there are people who may have offered great joy, but because of our view of life – we feel a great distain as we visualize what that person has done to our life.

Have you ever taken the time to look back over life and question why each and every person walked through your life?  Forget them not.  Each person played an intriguing part in your life to create some kind of greater enlightenment.  I realize that sometimes it may be difficult to understand this idea until much later; when you reflect, and understand this person helped you immensely along your path.  Is it possible to have this kind of knowledge during the times of trouble?  Wouldn’t it be beneficial to be able to see it during the time it is taking place?  This is our time to remember the lesson of the Forget-Me-Not plant.  How will you remember each person presently in your life?  Can you be objective enough to think outside of the box, and be thankful for having this person enter your life?

The above picture shows buds that are yet to open.  I believe this represents people yet to come into our life – yet to burst open with fervour to entice us closer to enlightenment.

The tiny flowers of this plant have some similarities; but they also appear to be very different.  Some are darker blue, some lighter blue, some with a pink shade, but there doesn’t appear to be any two of those flowers alike.  People are similar to that concept – each of us is unique in our being.  Each of us offers a sense of beauty all of our own.  Do you look to see the beauty in each individual, or are you more concerned they may become a ‘nuisance’ in your garden of life?

Last, but not least, as I looked at this picture, I noticed the lone flower sitting on the leaves over to the left, as if  some unplanned wind pushed it aside from the nourishment of the mother plant.  Could this represent some people that we, as humanity also push aside?  And yet, looking closely, this blue flower offers just as much beauty.  I believe that we all know someone, who has crossed our path throughout our life, that humanity neglected in some way – or perhaps we have neglected to see the beauty.

The tiny blue flowers of the Forget Me Not plant has a lot to teach us!
