COURAGE IS A CHOICE
BY: ANN PERRY

Recently I arrived at the observation that a common link exists between all of my clients. Even though they all come for different reasons and different therapies that I offer,  they are ultimately there for the same reason.

As most of you know, Holly and I offer various healing techniques designed to empower you on your journey. Each of our modalities are designed to help you take back the power in your hands that you may have misplaced along the way.

Astrology and Numerology charts re-introduce you to your soul’s contract and help you to remember why you are here. Gem stone healing and Reiki therapy help you to realign your energy bodies helping you to be more balanced physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) allows you to tackle fears and anxieties that exist in your life while Past Life Regression therapy allows you to revisit people and places from previous lifetimes.

So what is this common link that exists among all of our clients who visit us?

It’s very simple really. Ask yourself when you might go and see an Astrologer or a Numerologist. Ask yourself why you might want to visit previous lifetimes. Ask yourself why you might come to me to learn how to control some anxiety issues with the use of EFT.

The answer is always the same. “I feel like I’m out of control and I lack direction in my life. I don’t know what my life’s purpose is.” So what does it feel like to be out of control while lacking direction in your life? How does it feel when you don’t know what your life’s purpose is? Damned scary that’s how it feels!

The common link that binds us altogether here is FEAR and fear comes from feeling like you have no control over anything! So how do we conquer this fear? We summon our COURAGE! We all have it! Our lives are full of contradictions. If you can feel happy you can also feel sad. If you can feel frustrated you can also feel calm. If you can feel fear you can also feel courage!

Believe it or not fear is a choice. Courage is also a choice. No one can make us feel afraid unless we choose to react in the emotion of fear. No one can make us feel anything we don’t want to feel. We really can choose to select fear as an emotion. An emotion is simply a reaction to something we have experienced. Think about it. You go to the zoo and watch the attendant go in and clean out the lion’s cage. You are terrified that if he makes a wrong move he’s going to be the lion’s lunch! He on the other hand chooses a different emotion and goes about his business mindlessly cleaning out the cage. Why? Because he has the power to do this based on his perception as to what is dangerous and what isn’t! You chose to be scared…he chose to be at peace.

Courage is a choice. I grant you it isn’t always an easy choice but it is in fact a choice. You can always have the courage to do whatever you want if you want it badly enough.

I am always so touched by all of the clients who “choose” to come and see Holly and myself. It often takes a lot of courage to say “Hey! I’m a bit messed up here and I need a little help getting back on track.” Wow! How awesome is that?! Now THAT takes courage! To stand up and admit that you are feeling out of control and need a little help is one of thee most courageous acts ever!

Ask the person who has voluntarily stood at the podium at an AA meeting and announced to the group that they are in fact an alcoholic. Courage brought them to the podium but not before they made the CHOICE to go there!

Often times I will do readings for people and I will discover their fears around confrontation. Confrontation is never easy but choosing not to confront someone while sitting in the shadows of fear is a choice. Mustering the COURAGE to confront someone is also a choice which is often the key that opens the door to better circumstances.

Where areas in your life are calling for courage? What choices are you making that cause you to choose fear over courage?

One of my favorite sayings is…..

“If you keep on doing what you keep on doing….
you’ll always get what you always got!”

Choose courage over fear. You’ll be glad you did!
