SODALITE

THE STONE OF CONFIDENCE

Got a big date coming up?  Ie  Job interview or something that you feel you could use a bit of ‘confidence’ – carry this stone in your pocket.

Sodalite is a dark blue, opaque stone sometimes crossed by white lines.  Because this stone has a strong color to it, and does not reveal its inside, it gives a sense of self confidence.  The 'crossed lines' are believed to be a web of information for each of us.

The strength of the color blue gives a calming effect – almost like a sense of knowing.  It helps to clear mental confusion and it supports rational thinking and objectivity.  It is often a stone people will place on their third eye to gain ‘extra information’.  One can even use it as a meditation aid to help visualize solutions to problems.

We also use this stone for important events because it does boost self esteem, and perception.  It allows us to realize that we hold more information, and have access to more information than often we give ourselves credit for.   It is a great communication stone because it helps with clarity of thought.  This makes it a great stone for either the student or the professor.

Sodalite can be made into an elixir.  Leaving the stone in water over-night and then drinking the water in the AM as it has been known to help with diabetes  calming the emotionalism around the disease.  It does have a high sodium content though...so this would not be recommended to someone with high blood pressure.

This mineral is often confused with another blue stone called “lapis Lazuli” – the  differences are the coloring within the blue stone and the depth of the 'blueness'.   Lapis Lazuli contains sparkles of golden iron pyrites whereas Sodalite has veins of ‘white’ running through it.  This represents the sodium content

For those suffering from depression, sodalite would not be a good choice as it has a ‘calming’ effect and we don’t wish to exaggerate the condition already in play.  (this would be true for any of the indigo blue stones).
