SARDONYX
"The stone of virtue"
As you can see from the pictures, Sardonyx comes in various colors. But there is one thing that truly denotes a Sardonyx....and that is that it is always banded in coloring so it should be relatively easy to identify when looking through a rock shop.
The color differences are because it is a mixture of many stones: the amount of black represents Onyx. The amount of reddish/orange is because it holds some Carnelian within the stone and the yellowish/white color is actually some Chalcedony. Therefore this stone holds the power of all three of the above mentioned stones.
It is called 'the stone of virtue' because it holds within it a sense of 'rightness'. It holds a sense of integrity and virtuous conduct and so it often resonates with Aries and/or Virgo individuals.
If you have a friend, or someone who is searching for 'meaningful existence' I'd be tempted to buy them a Sardonyx. It helps to process the information about the meaning of life as it strengthens character and enhances self-control. If someone is struggling with what life is handing them, they should carry a Sardonyx within their pocket. Allow the vibration of the stone to move within the body.
I use Sardonyx in the gemstone healing when there is someone dealing with 'bone marriow' issues. Sardonyx can be used to help alleviate cell disturbances within the marrow. So anyone being treated for bone-marrow cancer, this stone can help to re-build.
By far, it is a beautiful stone with that high sense of protection.
